The Adelaide University Theatre Guild was founded by staff of the University in 1938 and is the second oldest amateur theatre company in South Australia. The Guild controversially presented Patrick White plays The Ham Funeral (1961) after it was rejected by the 1962 Adelaide Festival, The Season at Sarsaparilla (1962) and Night on Bald Mountain (1964), all directed by John Tasker. The Performing Arts Collection holds the papers of John Tasker.
