Sun Music was premiered by The Australian Ballet in 1968 and was performed at Her Majesty’s Theatre that same year. With a score written by Peter Sculthorpe, choreography by Robert Helpmann and designs by Kenneth Rowell, Sun Music is a contemporary ballet focused on Australia’s relationship with the weather and the earth. The music, choreography and costumes express the dichotomy of the sun as a source of both life and danger.
