This program is the 1947 production of Othello, produced and directed by Colin Ballantyne, and performed at the Tivoli Theatre (now Her Majesty’s Theatre). The production was funded by the Workers’ Educational Association of SA and the South Australian Education Department. Colin Ballantyne subsequently directed a celebrated series of large-scale productions of Shakespeare’s plays for the Arts Council of South Australia, in a number of which future Labor Premier Don Dunstan acted.
