The sets for Evita were made in Adelaide Festival Centre’s workshop for the production’s 1980 Adelaide run and its subsequent national tour. Andrew Lloyd Webber, composer Tim Rice, and director Hal Prince flew to Adelaide for the season’s rehearsal and had front row seats for opening night. The success of this production cemented the Adelaide Festival Centre Trust’s position in the Australian arts industry, but also created the chance for Adelaide Festival Centre staff to work with the original creative team.
