South Australian School of Art graduate, Olive Bishop was part of the anti-establishment movement dubbed 'Skangaroovian Funk' (an amalgamation of South Australian and Kangaroo), a term first coined by former Director of the Art Gallery of South Australia, Daniel Thomas. Bishop was actively exhibiting during the 1960s and 1970s and was a key contributor to this ceramics movement that called for social change, rather than functional ceramic objects. Her works are held in the National Gallery of Australia, Art Gallery of South Australia, Powerhouse Museum, and Australian War Memorial. She was also the commissioned feature artist for the Adelaide Festival of Arts poster in 1978.
