Maude Parker is an emerging South Australian First Nations artist who paints native Australian flora and fauna. A proud Kokotha woman she was born in Barmera but grew up in Adelaide as part of the Stolen Generation. Parker’s artistic journey began in the Riverland where she used to attend the Berri Art Centre, a place of community workshops and exhibitions. While there, the Arts Director asked if she would like to put a painting in the 2006 first OUR MOB exhibition as they were looking for artists to enter. Parker decided to give it a go and entered her first painting. This exhibition began Parker’s OUR MOB journey, and she has entered a painting every year since.
This unique artwork features a vortex of blue butterflies, wrens, and ladybirds.
