Iteka Ukarla Sanderson-Bromley is a young emerging Adnyamathanha, Narungga and Wangkangurru Yarluyandi artist who makes incredibly detailed and alluring paintings. Her family are highly respected in the local community. Her mother is Lele Sanderson, CEO and Managing Director of Bookabee Australia. Her father is Haydyn Bromley, Cultural Director, consultant, and advocate for First Nations people. Her younger brother Temaana Yundu Sanderson-Bromley is also an artist and was the recent and youngest recipient of the Don Dunstan Foundation OUR MOB Emerging Artist Prize. Iteka Ukarla Sanderson-Bromley and her older brother Tjimari Sanderson-Milera are Cultural Educators and Tour Guides at Bookabee Australia and Kumarninthi Cultural Education. They also have a family art collective called Malka Wiriwiri.
Iteka Ukarla Sanderson-Bromley has been practicing and exploring her intricate art style since she was a teenager. Spinifex is a highly accomplished work and shows a divergence from her usual vibrant and colourful works. However, in the absence of colour there is a heightened concentration on composition and shape that is captivating and shows a maturity beyond her years.
