Volunteering is an investment in something larger than ourselves, a way to create a ripple effect of positive change that resonates through individuals and communities.

Volunteering is a way of giving back to your community without spending. At Adelaide Festival Centre, our vollies embody this spirit, playing a vital role in making the arts accessible and vibrant for all.

Volunteers are at the heart of our mission, helping us solidify our place as the arts and entertainment hub of South Australia.

Kaitlyn: From Student to Arts Advocate

At just 20, Kaitlyn is our youngest vollie, but her dedication speaks volumes. For nearly three years, she's been a vital part of our volunteer team. "I initially volunteered while studying festival management, hoping to gain industry insight," Kaitlyn shares. "But even after graduating, I stayed because I genuinely love the arts!" Her journey proves that volunteering can ignite a lifelong passion.

Carla: Sharing a Lifelong Love of the Arts

Carla's connection to the Festival Centre runs deep, spanning her entire life. From childhood operas with her father to "Something on Saturday" with her sons, the Centre has always been a constant. Now, after 18 months of volunteering, she's sharing that love with others. "As a volunteer, I want to impart my love of arts and culture to patrons, making them feel welcome and comfortable as they experience the incredible offerings here," Carla explains. Her commitment highlights how volunteering can be a powerful way to give back to a place that holds special meaning.

Jim: Bringing Theatre History to Life

With over a decade of volunteering at AFC, Jim's enthusiasm for the arts is infectious. One of his favourite roles is leading public tours of Her Majesty's Theatre and Festival Theatre. "Seeing the buzz on patrons' faces when they experience our theatres is incredibly rewarding," Jim says. With a background in teaching and a lifelong passion for musical theatre, drama, and music, volunteering at the Festival Centre was a natural fit. Jim's story shows how volunteering can be a perfect outlet for sharing your skills and passions.
