We are thrilled about the return of the vibrant and beloved Virginia Gay as Artistic Director for the Adelaide Cabaret Festival in 2025, marking the festival's 25th anniversary! After this year's program of pure joy, mischief, and irresistible fun, we're overjoyed to have her back at the helm for this special milestone.

The electric vibe of this year's Adelaide Cabaret Festival, which had its closing night last Saturday, captured the hearts and imaginations of South Australians, warming their winter nights with a perfect blend of classic and contemporary cabaret acts, all under the magical guidance of Virginia Gay.

"My beautiful friends," Virginia starts, "I am absurdly honoured to be returning as Artistic Director of Adelaide Cabaret Festival in 2025 (did someone say 25th anniversary year? Ooooo hunnnny!) This festival holds a truly special place in my heart, and it has been such a delight to tumble out into the foyers with you, see you glittering in all your finery, and excitedly jump up and down with you about what we've just seen. I am first and foremost a fan of this festival, and of the spirit of adventure and enthusiasm that runs in the veins of our audiences. It's magic here, and I cannot WAIT to cook up a little more magic for 2025!"

Adelaide Festival Centre CEO & Artistic Director Douglas Gautier AM couldn't be happier: "We are thrilled to welcome back the wonderful Virginia Gay as Artistic Director of the 25th Adelaide Cabaret Festival next year. No doubt next year's program will be a huge celebration of cabaret and shine just as brightly as this year with Virginia's artistic vision."

With sold-out shows from a variety of world-class performers, 2024 will certainly be hard to top, but we know Virginia has something up her sequined sleeves.

From Virginia

“Gathering these brilliant shows from all over the world, bringing them back to you, and sitting with you as we howled with laughter and sat open-mouthed at the musical virtuosity and the world-class storytelling of these artists, will be one of the great highlights of my life. I have LOVED being part of the vibrant, open-hearted, front-footed Adelaide arts scene this winter, and cannot wait to do it again next year. Here’s to more mischief, more variety, more breathtaking intimacy, more charmingly chaotic love explosions, and here's to cabaret. 25th Anniversary, bring it ON!”
