From Sydney to London’s West End, to the depths of the South African jungle, Rhonda Burchmore has endeared herself into the hearts of all Australians. A leading lady of theatre since 1988, she has starred in many shows and is now returning to the Adelaide Festival Theatre stage as a nun!
Making her stage debut at the tender age of two in a local church hall, Rhonda knew the only thing she ever truly wanted to do was sing, dance and entertain. With an international career spanning more than 35 years, the vivacious Rhonda Burchmore continues to turn heads wherever she goes.
Adelaide audiences have fallen in love with Rhonda, from her recent performance in Hairspray to her appearances at Adelaide Cabaret Festival – winning the Cabaret Icon Award for her significant impact on the Australian Cabaret industry in 2014. Now she is trading the sparkles for a habit in Sister Act, the global smash hit musical sent from above.
Starring alongside Casey Donovan as Deloris Van Cartier and Genevieve Lemon as Mother Superior, Rhonda shines as Sister Mary Lazarus. Audiences are truly blessed to witness this trio of extraordinary talents gracing Australian stages. The story follows the movie of the same name, with a brand-new soundtrack inspired by Motown and fueled with soul and disco, it will fast become your new favourite musical soundtrack. The award-winning musical features original music by Tony and 8-time Oscar award-winner Alan Menken (Disney’s Aladdin, Enchanted & The Little Mermaid).
