TIX for ALL - Youth Inc.

Adelaide Festival Centre recently hosted two incredible events centred around the hit musical Sister Act, each offering unique and impactful experiences for young people in our community.

Behind the Scenes with ListenIN

On Saturday 22 March, a group of 19 aspiring stage managers, aged 16-18, were given an exclusive glimpse into the world of large-scale musical productions. Thanks to a partnership with Crossroads Live and the expertise of Adelaide Festival Centre’s production team, these creative minds participated in a hands-on ‘ListenIN Behind-the-Scenes’ workshop. The group had the opportunity to chat with crew before the Final Dress Rehearsal and listened to the crew calls for the first act, gaining invaluable insights into the complex art of running a big musical production like Sister Act.

The workshop was a resounding success, with the entire company and crew enthusiastically sharing their knowledge and experience. This collaborative effort not only provided practical skills but also ignited a passion for theatre for future industry professionals, proving that the future of stage management is in capable hands.

TIX for ALL: Sharing the Joy with Youth Inc.

The following day, Sunday 23 March, Adelaide Festival Centre's TIX for ALL program, generously supported by the Adelaide Festival Centre Foundation, opened its doors to students and staff from Youth Inc. Students from the special assistance school, catering to students aged 17-24 who are re-engaging with education, were treated to a preview performance of Sister Act at Festival Theatre.

For many of these students, it was their first time experiencing the magic of live theatre at Adelaide Festival Centre. The TIX for ALL program provided students with premium box seats and show programs, creating a memorable day.

The powerful impact of the experience was evident in the heartfelt testimonials from participants:

"It’s been really good and I’ve really liked seeing the joy of the group watching the show."

— Hope, Youth Inc. Learning Manager

"It’s my first time in the theatre. It’s amazing, the vibe in there was really nice, super electric."

— Sam, 19yo

"It’s amazing, the opportunity that I can get to watch it, it’s really good."

— Maddison, 18yo

"The whole thing has been absolutely incredible. I’ve always actually wanted to go and see a musical live, but I’ve never had the opportunity."

— Hannah, 20yo

"I feel energised and hyped up being here!"

— Shanae, 18yo

These quotes highlight the power of live performance to inspire and uplift.

Both the ListenIN workshop and the TIX for ALL experience underscore Adelaide Festival Centre's commitment to making the arts accessible to everyone and presenting Arts For All.
