ARIA Award winning children’s music singer songwriter, Peter Combe brings his Green Christmas Album to life with his Bellyflop in a Pizza Band and Adelaide Youth Orchestras for a festive fun time.
Peter Combe’s Christmas with Adelaide Youth Orchestras will feature fan favourites such as Wash your Face in Orange Juice (Mr Clicketty Cane), Newspaper Mama, and Spaghetti Bolognaise along with some Christmas classics to get audiences into the festive spirit.
Peter Combe: “I’m really looking forward to my Christmas shows at the Dunstan Playhouse which is one of my very favourite venues. It’s a bit of an extravaganza with some fantastic young string players from the Adelaide Youth Orchestras, my 4-piece band plus some wonderful singers and dancers from St Peter’s Girls’ School. I love doing concerts at Christmas and hopefully we can bring some fun and optimism into people’s lives.”
Adelaide Youth Orchestras Executive Director Nic Jeffries: “The Adelaide Youth Orchestras (AdYO) are thrilled to be working with Peter Combe for this Christmas concert, helping to celebrate Adelaide Festival Centre’s 50th. As the leading youth orchestral music organisation in South Australia, coming together with one of Australia’s most beloved children’s entertainers to bring in the Christmas cheer is what I would describe as a perfect partnership! We are looking forward to celebrating Christmas with you at Adelaide Festival Centre.”
Across a career spanning four decades, Peter Combe has captivated generations of Australian families with fun and catchy original songs like Wash Your Face in Orange Juice and The Silly Postman. Critical acclaim for his work has included three ARIA awards and six nominations, with 1987’s Toffee Apple being the first-ever children’s album to win an ARIA.
Seven of his albums have achieved Gold and two reached Platinum. Peter Combe has a plaque on Adelaide Festival Centre’s Walk of Fame, and in 2020 he received an Order of Australia Medal for his contribution to the performing arts.
