A waitlist to be first in line for tickets is now open at frozenthemusical.com.au. Those who sign up prior to 25 February 2022 will get priority access to tickets with pre-sales beginning at 9am on 28 February 2022.

The Australian principal cast features Courtney Monsma as Anna, Jemma Rix in the role of Elsa, Matt Lee as Olaf, Thomas McGuane as Hans, Sean Sinclair as Kristoff, Aljin Abella as Weselton and sharing the role of Sven, Jonathan MacMillan and Lochie McIntyre.

“We are proud to have been part of Australia’s pioneering return to live performance at the end of 2020 and have watched in awe as Australians have made so many tough sacrifices since,” said Thomas Schumacher, President & Producer Disney Theatrical Productions.  “But Frozen is about a return from isolation and a community healing. So, bringing this show to Adelaide – which so warmly welcomed Aladdin in 2019 - at this moment in time is a thrill."

South Australian audiences love musicals and to have Disney return to Adelaide Festival Centre is a highlight of our 2022 program. Aladdin was Adelaide Festival Centre’s best-selling musical, and we know our patrons will be just as enchanted by this magical production of the hit Broadway musical, Frozen. We look forward to welcoming theatre lovers and newcomers alike to Festival Theatre when this season begins in May.

— Adelaide Festival Centre CEO & Artistic Director, Douglas Gautier AM, welcomed the production saying

To have Disney return to South Australia with their world-renowned production of Frozen is a tremendous result for South Australia and will add to Adelaide’s vibrancy while supporting the arts and entertainment industry and economic activity in the state. This feel-good musical is just what South Australians need right now and we recognise the importance of the arts in helping our community stay connected and in supporting wellbeing. We look forward to eagerly welcoming Frozen to Adelaide this year.

About Disney’s Frozen

Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions (The Lion King, Aladdin, Mary Poppins), Frozen features music and lyrics by Academy Award®-winning songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, with book by Academy Award®-winning writer Jennifer Lee, direction by Tony® Award winner Michael Grandage and choreography by Tony® Award winner Rob Ashford.

Adapted from the Disney film and original 1844 fairy tale by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen The Snow Queen, Frozen is brought to fresh theatrical life in this luxurious new musical.

Frozen’s journey sweeps audiences up into its thrilling world of adventure and classic comedy. While it does feature true love, the story has become beloved around the world for breaking the princess mold of girls needing to be saved by a prince, instead, focusing on the bond of two sisters, Elsa and Anna.

The stage production features a full score, including 12 new songs from the original Academy Award-winning songwriters written especially for the stage.

Frozen opened on Broadway at the St. James Theatre in March 2018 with the highest box office advance in Broadway history. Frozen was also the highest grossing new musical of its Broadway season in its first year on Broadway. Its global footprint has expanded to include a North American tour, London’s West End, Japan and Hamburg, Germany.  The Australian production was the first Frozen to open anywhere in the world outside of New York.

The animated film Frozen was released by Disney on November 19, 2013 and was a critical and box office smash, earning over USD$1.28 billion in worldwide box office revenue and becoming the highest-grossing animated film at the time as well as the highest grossing musical film, before being surpassed by the remake of The Lion King in 2019. Frozen II had the highest all-time worldwide opening for an animated film and went on to gross USD$1.45 billion worldwide.

The first film won two Academy Awards including Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song ("Let It Go"), and two Grammy Awards for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media and Best Song Written for Visual Media ("Let It Go").

Frozen is designed by Tony® Award winning scenic and costume designer, Christopher Oram, six-time Tony® winning lighting designer Natasha Katz, Tony® winning video designer Finn Ross, and seven-time Tony® nominated sound designer Peter Hylenski. The production team also includes acclaimed puppet designer Michael Curry, special effects designer Jeremy Chernick,

hair designer David Brian Brown and makeup designer Anne Ford-Coates. The music team is headed by music supervisor Stephen Oremus, joined by orchestrator Dave Metzger.

Frozen is produced by Disney Theatrical Productions under the direction of Thomas Schumacher.

The company’s inaugural production, Beauty and the Beast, opened on Broadway in 1994. It played a remarkable 13 year run in New York and has been produced in 37 countries worldwide. A brand new production of the show just premiered in the UK to critical acclaim with a limited West End run just announced to begin in June 2022.

Approaching 24 landmark years on Broadway, it has welcomed more than 110 million visitors worldwide to date, and will soon be seen in nine productions worldwide.  Having played 20 countries on every continent except Antarctica, The Lion King’s worldwide gross exceeds that of any film, Broadway show or other entertainment title in box office history.

Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida opened on Broadway next, winning four 2000 Tony Awards. Aida was followed by Mary Poppins, a co-production with Cameron Mackintosh, which opened in London in 2004 and went on to enjoy a six year Tony-winning Broadway run, a West End revival and opens again in Australia in May this year.

Tarzan®, which opened on Broadway in 2006, went on to become an international hit with an award-winning production running 10 years in Germany.  In January 2008, The Little Mermaid opened on Broadway and was the #1-selling new musical of that year.

Disney Theatrical Productions opened two critically acclaimed productions on Broadway in 2012, receiving seven Tony Awards between them: Peter and the Starcatcher and Newsies, each of which enjoyed a two-year run with the latter spawning a record-breaking Fathom Events in-cinema release.

Aladdin, Disney Theatrical’s 2014 hit, continues to sell out on Broadway; it has launched 10 additional productions around the globe and been seen by more than 10 million guests.  DTP’s newest hit, the 2018 Tony-nominated Best Musical Frozen, recently concluded a record-setting Broadway run and can currently be seen on tour across North America, in Japan, London and Germany.

Other successful stage ventures have included the Olivier-nominated London hit Shakespeare in Love, stage productions of Disney’s High School Musical, Der Glöckner Von Notre Dame in Berlin, and King David in concert on Broadway.  DTP has collaborated with America’s preeminent theatres to develop new stage musicals including The Jungle Book, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Freaky Friday and Hercules.

As a part of the recent acquisition of 21st Century Fox, DTP also heads the Buena Vista Theatrical banner which licenses Fox titles for stage adaptations including Anastasia; Best Musical winner Moulin Rouge! The Musical; Mrs. Doubtfire and The Devil Wears Prada.
