Adelaide Festival Centre’s star-studded Walk of Fame is today announcing six new names in recognition of the powerful performances and hit shows presented at its venues in 2020 and 2021.
The recipients for 2020 include musical theatre performer Lisa Sontag, award-winning English actor David Suchet and Patch Theatre’s former Artistic Director Dave Brown.
Award-winning actress Lisa Sontag won the Public Vote for her performance as Mrs Wilkinson in Billy Elliot: The Musical. Highly acclaimed English actor David Suchet received the Adelaide Festival Centre Trust Choice Vote for his iconic performance in Poirot and more: A Retrospective. While Dave Brown won the Critics’ Choice for his Helpmann Award winning show Me and My Shadow.
Walk of Fame winners for 2021 include celebrated actress Robyn Nevin, conductor Nigel Westlake and rock band royalty Sarah McLeod.
Australian singer-songwriter known from the rock band The Superjesus, Sarah McLeod, received the Public Vote for her performance in Songs of Don at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival reimagining the songs of Don Walker.
Admired composer, musician and conductor Nigel Westlake won the Adelaide Festival Centre Trust Choice for his work in Nigel Westlake and Grigoryan Brothers in Concert. Australian theatre legend Robyn Nevin received the Critics’ Choice for her outstanding performance in Adelaide Festival’s A German Life.
They will join more than 130 names of the great artists who have graced the stages of Adelaide Festival Centre since it opened in 1973 and whose names shine bright on the walkway overlooking the River Torrens.
It was a pleasure to review the remarkable programs from 2020 and 2021 and we congratulate the winners.
I think everyone will agree that these accomplished artists are great additions to Adelaide Festival Centre’s Walk of Fame.
Each year three stars are added to the walkway – in addition to the Public Choice, two more stars are selected by Adelaide Festival Centre Trust and a panel of arts critics. Past recipients include Roy Orbison, Cold Chisel, Olivia Newton-John, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett, Tim Minchin, Paul Kelly, Guy Sebastian and Kate Ceberano.
